A few days ago, my 3rd graders completed their task - to draw an animal and write a short description of the drawing in English. We made contact with 3 partner schools through Cambridge Penfriends Centenary Competition (https://penfriends.cambridgeenglish.org/index.php) and the school from Ukraine was the first one we sent our cards to. On Wednesday, November 20th, we received a parcel from Ukraine with the postcards our friends from Nizhyn gymnasia No3 had drawn for us. Take a look at them below. On Friday Sept.20th 2013. we had International Peace Day celebration. This was the first time we participated in the global celebration of this important date, and registered our participation at http://peaceoneday.org/ Here is the flyer announcing our activities Our first activity was with our friends from Izmir, Turkey with whom we had a Skype chat about what the word PEACE means to us. Once again I would like to thank Miss Pinar Cetiner and her 7th grade students for participating and making our Skype activity a success. After the Skype lesson, we went to the school yard to make origami cranes - as the Japanese legend says " the one who makes a thousand origami cranes will be granted one wish". We were close to making a 1000. Yesterday, on March 29th, a group of 6th and 8th graders went to see the magic world of science, presented by primary and high school students from Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro. Yesterday's Skype chat with 2nd and 3rd graders from Elma Elementary, Iowa, USA was a wonderful new experience for both my students and me. Thanks to Ms.Hutch who organised World Class 4 Kids we found Mr. Carter's class and after checking the time zone difference we agreed to "meet" on Thursday afternoon. After the initial "stage fright attack" my second grade students were more comfortable talking to their peers from Iowa.
My second grade students enjoying themselves playing scrabble. Last week we went to a 2-day field trip and visited Eastern Serbia.
