Excursion – East Serbia 2012. Our class visited East Serbia on our excursion. We went to Gamzigrad, Negotin, Majdanpek, Rajko’s cave and Lepenski vir, Silver Lake, Viminacium and Pozarevac. Gamzigrad is Roman’s old town near Zajecar. It is very big and very interesting. Mosaics are beautiful and there you can buy soaps by Roman recipes. In Negotin, we visited three museums. The first was The Museum of Negotinska krajna, the second was The house of Stevan Stojanovic Mokranjac and the third museum was The house of hajduk Veljko Petrovic. Rajko’s cave is a monument of nature in Serbia. It is beautiful and some rocks are like diamonds. It is very cold there and it is muddy. We were impressed. Lepenski vir is old “town” near the Danube. Their houses were interesting and big. You can buy some souvenirs or see virtual “town”. Silver lake is part of Danube and it’s a good place for summer vacation. It has many hotels and restaurants near Silver Lake. In summer, sun shines on the water and the lake has silver color. Viminacium is a big Roman town with thermae (bath) and crypt under town. The crypt has frescos and many stories. It is very dark and scary. Old Romans had floor heating systems in the thermae. Pozarevac is a nice town. It has a factory of biscuits “Bambi” and a monument on hill Cacalica near Pozarevac. Student Blogging Challenge, week 6 The Republic of Serbia has a population of about 7 million people. Serbia is on the Balkan Peninsula in South East Europe. The official language is Serbian, but some people know English and other languages. Our capital is Belgrade. Belgrade is the biggest city. It has great shopping malls, and there are many places for going out. The rivers Dunav and Sava are going through Belgrade. In Serbia, we have very cold winters and very hot summers. In summer, we have many forest fires , but in winter, we have a lot of snow. The best tennis player of the world is Novak Djokovic. However, there are many famous people, like Vuk Karadzic, for example, who is important for us, because he made perfect alphabet for us, Serbians. Legend of Devil’s Town is of mother and father who wanted to marry a brother and a sister, their son and daughter. People believed that devil is in those parents, because that is a sin in our religion. On their wedding day, a fairy came to our world and turned all the guests into rocks. The Devil’s Town was nominated for one of the New 7 world’s wonders. The most popular places in my country are mountain Kopaonik, Palic and Vlasina lakes, Fruska gora, Djerdap. There are many spas and old historical monuments around the country. In my hometown Nis, there are many festivals like Nisville( Jazz festival), Filmski Susreti, cheese festival and many others. My favorite is International Students' Folklore Festival when people around the world come to promote their national dances. Student blogging challenge, week 3 |
