Today we had special virtual guests in our English class - 7/1 students welcomed Mr.Boukrab's class from Sidi Mohamed El Maghraoui school in Fes, Morocco, to our classroom. Since they didn't know our location, we played Mystery Skype game until they guessed and then the students asked each other questions about school subjects, daily life, sport and music. After our chat, we continued our learning and exchanged PPT presentations with Mr. Boukrab's class. The theme was - TOURIST ATTRACTIONS NEAR OUR CITY - below is the presentation about Fez.

Today we met new friends from Mr. Colleran's class. They live in Galway, located on the west coast by the Atlantic Ocean. Their school is in the countryside about 15 miles outside the city. We learned about a sport the students like playing - HURLING. To find out more about Mr. Colleran's class visit their website: www.craughwellns.scoilnet.ie. Today the 7/2 class had a Skype chat with Ms. Sara Persson's 6th grade class from Otterstad school. It's a small school on an island called Kållandsö situated in the lake Vänern (Swedens largest lake). The closest city is Lidköping. Here is the poster they made for us, showing us their school and in the background is their favorite soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a player in PSG. Yesterday was a special day - not because it was Valentine's Day, but because the III/3 class made new friends - Mr.McKenzie's class from New Dundee, Ontario, Canada. Here is their teacher's blog. It was also our first time using Google Hangouts in class since we have only been using Skype for practicing English with our peers. We learnt that their school has 11 classes, that their school mascot is a dragon and that they like watching the Winter Olympics and playing hockey. The internet connection was bad so we couldn't see the snow outside, in their schoolyard but they told us it was below -20 degrees. Here in Serbia, we had almost spring temperature, very unusual for mid-February, it was +18 degrees. Here is Iva reading a poem "Luba's crazy restaurant" to Mr.McKenzie's class.
Today my 7/2 class had a Skype get together with Mr. Cope's class from Silverado Middle School, Napa, USA. The atmosphere was so relaxed and the questions just kept coming. Although it was our last lesson for the day and it started at 6.30 pm ( it was morning in Napa who were 9 hours behind our time ) my students were very eager to talk to their peers. Here is the video that Silverado students made that we simply LOOOVE and the song they chose was so catchy that it became the tune on our blog HOME page. A new school year started and our skyping with classes around the globe continues. Today my 7th grade students had a chance to do Mystery Skype with Mrs.Krueger's class from Wisconsin, USA. All 29 of them were eager to participate, some of them wanted to be in front of the webcam while the others, more shy, wanted just to ask questions and search the maps for the mystery state. On Wednesday, May 22nd 2013. my 6th grade students (and a few of them from 8th grade who wanted to participate, too) had a chance to talk to Mrs.Edmunds's class from Taiwan. This was their first attempt at using Skype and our first chat with a class from Asia, so now we have covered almost all continents. The video wasn't so good because our wifi connection was constantly breaking so we decided to keep only audio on. Some of my 8th grade students sang a song for our new friends and we taught them to say HELLO in Serbian. On Thursday May 16th, 2013. second graders had a chance to talk to their peers from London and Izmir. Unfortunately, we couldn't see the class from DeBeauvoir Primary school in London due to Skype video problems, but we could hear them perfectly. Here are some photos of our chat, and here is the link to the blog that our friends from London made. http://debeauvoirdl.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/year-2-talk-to-serbia-and-turkey.html On Thursday April 18th, my second grade-group 2, had a chance to talk to Mrs.Kerian's second grade class from Iowa. We learnt a lot of new things and here you can see a few photos of our chat. |
