Today was a special day because we had a TV crew coming to our class. They interviewed me and my students and wanted to capture a bit of the atmosphere when we skyped with another class. For this lesson, we played #MysterySkype with Mr. Dean Whiteley's 4th grade class. This was the first time for my students to talk to someone in the UK and it took them a while to guess that the Longhill Primary class was located in Kingston Upon Hull in Yorkshire.

Mr. Smith's year 5/6 class from Queensland, Australia spent the night at school meeting people all around the world via Skype. My 3rd graders played their first Mystery Skype with them.
Today was our first Skype call with Maria from Wondergrove! My 3rd graders were so surprised when Maria spoke to them and even congratulated them on a few things they had achieved since the beginning of the school year. She challenged them to complete all the given tasks in 4 weeks - before our next call on Monday, November 30th when she will be presenting the learning certificates to the ones who fulfilled the challenge! Our traveling teddy bear Bobby visited a class in Norway after his stay in Serbia. Today we met Ms. Vicki Jones's 2nd grade class and talked to them via G+Hangout. My second graders were excited to learn all about Bobby's adventures with them before he continued his trip to Japan. On Wednesday, April 8th 2015, my second grade students and I had a chance to see Tessie the bear in Ms.Ann Lopez's kindergarten class in Shenzen, China. We were so excited to meet them and tell them about the fun we had with Tessie and Bobby in Serbia. Today my 2nd graders had their first Skype adventure! We connected with Mr.Tim Shortt's class in New Haven and his students (who are also 7-8 years old). We talked about the favourite subjects, food, pets and sports. What was interesting was that one boy from Serbia, Nikola, who used to live in our city, now lives in the USA and attends their school! Today was a fun day for my 4th grade students - they played Mystery Skype game with Mr. Flory's class. My students were so excited when I asked them to play this game and even the fact that they had to stay after class for this opportunity was not a problem for them. Today my 4th grade students had a chance to play Mystery Hangout game with a class from Dubai, UAE. Their teacher, Mr. Osama Abujafar found me via Twitter and invited us to play. It wasn't very difficult to find the suitable time since Dubai is only 3 hours ahead of Nis. Although my students haven't had any previous experience in using the world map, they liked playing the guessing game with their peers. Today we were a part of Ms. Cass Parker's and her room 5 SKYPE NIGHT. Our new friends from New Zealand organized an event where they stayed at school after school hours in order to be able to Skype with different countries. As we are 10 hours behind, our morning ( 11 am) was their evening ( 9 pm). First we played Mystery Skype game and after that the students talked about school, sport and music. Here is the video on their blog - http://www.room5bis.blogspot.com/2014/04/skyping-with-serbia.html |
